Interview with Jane:
1. From where do you draw inspiration for your books?

JA: In the beginning I found great inspiration in Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer. Over time, my own life experiences and observations have been added into the mix.

2. What are some themes you love to write in your novels?

JA: I really like writing about two people who work through their issues to evolve an equal romantic partnership. I’m also very taken with the triumph of kindness and the importance of laughter.

3. As you've written both contemporary and historical romance, which one was more fun for you to write?

JA: Historical, definitely! I love the style and the interesting language I get to play with. Past eras also offer so many opportunities for social complications.

4. When you are writing, do you find yourself more hero-centric or heroine-centric?

JA: I used to be more heroine-centric, but lately I find myself more and more interested in the heroes.

5. If you had to pick a favorite amongst your books, which one would it be? (I know this is a tough question!)

JA: It is tough! Like choosing among your children. Since I am always trying to improve as a writer, I guess I’ll pick my new one, The Bride Insists, coming in March. Just a month now!

6. What's coming next for you?

JA: I’m finishing up a new Regency historical called Married to a Proper Stranger. It’s the story of a couple who are separated a month after their marriage, when the husband is tapped for a two-year diplomatic mission to China. The book begins when they’re reunited, both much changed by their experiences during their time apart. As they struggle to get to know each other all over again, they find it can be quite exciting to be married to a fascinating stranger.

Jane Ashford also has a BRAND NEW book coming out in March 2014: THE BRIDE INSISTS:

Sparks fly in this sexy, fast-paced Regency romance by acclaimed, bestselling author Jane Ashford

When governess Clare Greenough learns she’s inherited a fortune, the good news comes with a catch: it will be held by her cousin until Clare can find a husband. To stave off ruin, Jamie Boleigh, the seventh Baron of Trehearth, agrees to marry Clare under the condition that she controls the money, a provision he hopes to overturn. Their passionate relationship becomes a battle of wills. When the cousin tricks Jamie into betraying his wife, he’ll have to prove the truth or lose her forever.

  2. I wonder, is it hard to write a style and language from a past era?

  7. Hi Jane!

I love so many of your books and I always have friends who want to borrow the "older" books you've written like Bride To Be and Charmed and Dangerous because they're not available on Amazon. Are you planning on having any of your books that are no longer like those two released for Kindles? I keep having to call my friends who "borrow" your books pass them on to other friends instead of returning them to me! If not I'm going to have to start a contest between all my friends and have them report back and which of your books travels to the most states wins!
