Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition #18

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin of Love Saves the World and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

So, the novel I'm featuring is...

Twin Passions
Twin Passions by Miriam Minger, published first in 1988
                                                  Goodreads | Amazon

TWIN PASSIONS - Beautiful, feminine Anora finds her wedding plans suddenly shattered when she and her identical twin, tomboyish Gwendolyn, are kidnapped and taken aboard a Viking ship. While the handsome captain mistakes Gwendolyn for a boy and appoints her his servant, Anora captures his heart and he vows to have her. To preserve her sister's maidenhood, Gwendolyn initiates a dangerous game. Will the twins be rescued before Gwendolyn surrenders to her own passion?

This is a Viking romance, and pretty close to a bodice ripper (or is). One of the first romance novels I've read before I started reading romance, this stood out with its parallel romance - except it isn't, really, since Anora's story gets only one chapter. So it's really Gwendolyn's story. Some nice action is involved in here also, but I might have to re-read this to examine whether it is a bodice ripper (Spoiler: When the Viking hero finally decides to stop with his patient seduction and sleep with Anora, Gwen takes her place out of desperation.)

Everything else said, I liked this. :)

Now, head over to Tin @ Love Saves the World and Ki Pha @ Doing Some Reading for their pick of the week. :-)

Fellow historical romance readers are welcome to join us. Enter your link below so we can visit your TBT: HR Edition post for the week! (Then go here to copy the Link code to your blogs.)

Happy Reading!

  1. I've never heard of this, but the premise (Vikings!) does intrigue me. I'm not the biggest fan of bodice rippers though so I may need to learn more about it first. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I really like the sound of this, so I bought it! But I just noticed the old cover on goodreads, and it is truly awful lol
