Review Tour: Somebody to Love by Lori Wilde (Review + Giveaway)

Somebody To Love
A Cupid Texas Novel
By: Lori Wilde
Releasing Dec 31st, 2013
About the book:
New York Times bestselling author Lori Wilde invites you back to Cupid, Texas, where love is only a heartbeat away . . .

Sexy cowboy-scholar Jericho Chance always knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. And after sauntering back home to Cupid, he’s shocked to discover that he wants Zoe McCleary. After years from home, he takes one new look at his bubbly best friend, with her lightning smarts and luscious body, and it hits him like a bolt: she’s his somebody to love and he’s not leaving town again without her.

Settling down always seemed like a time waster to Zoe, a man magnet with a trail of broken hearts behind her. She’s not meant to settle down—but how can she resist someone as persuasive as Jericho? There’s no way they can ignore the explosive chemistry seething between them . . . even if it means risking their friendship...

Review:
This is my first book by Lori Wilde, and I definitely want to get to know the other cowboys from Cupid as well. As a fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, I enjoyed every step of Zoe and Jericho's path to a happily-ever-after -- from Zoe's frightful realization of having fallen in love with her best friend, to Jericho's determination to keep Zoe in her rightful place by his step, every scene was fun and interesting to read.

The plot is as it is in the blurb, but the magic is in reuniting two friends who've known each other since childhood and forcing them both to confront feelings they never before had. For Zoe, that was to admit her feelings for Jericho, for she did not want to ruin her friendship if she confessed. For Jericho, that was to come to the realization that his vagabond life (more spiritually so) held little meaning without someone to go back to, someone special in his life. To say it was humorous when both tried valiantly to deny their feelings for each other is an understatement, but even through the humor one can see the obvious frustration and indecision regarding this matter - Should they ignore their body language and natural affinity and remain just friends? Or might this be a good time to take their relationship to the next level?

Character-wise, I liked both Zoe and Jericho. Jericho I liked more since he has the rugged exterior of a cowboy with the intellect of a professor. That combination is frankly, quite attractive, and I enjoyed more to see him in his relaxed state around Zoe. Zoe was interesting -- a little quirky and at times awkward, but she has a warm heart and charming demeanor so it's quite impossible to not like her. Apart, these two are people most would probably like to befriend, but together, they are a couple made for each other, complimenting soft with hard, decisive with reflective, and so much more.

As someone who reads little contemporary romance, this book has certainly made me want to get into the genre, starting with the other books in Lori Wilde's Cupid Texas series!
